CERT Refresher -  CERT Light for Volunteers on Thursday, September 27th at 1000 Villa from 7 – 9 PM

This is an opportunity for new volunteers to get an overview of the full CERT class, and for anyone wanting a refresher in the CERT basics.  (Limit of 50 participants.)  The evening will cover:

●     Orientation & Personal Safety

●     CERT Organization

●     CERT Size-up

●     Damage Assessment & Exercise

●     Light Search & Rescue

●     Fire Suppression Basics

●     Communications & Exercise

2)  City-Wide CERT Exercise on Saturday, October 20th from 1 – 5 PM with a debrief at 1000 Villa at 4 PM

We will be doing a traditional neighborhood assessment, identifying incidents, using radio protocol to communicate with your CERT neighborhood command post, and transmitting summaries to the City EOC (Emergency Operations Center) via ham radio.  As a special treat, we have also scheduled your neighborhood fine engine company to visit each participating CERT Command Post (assuming they are not out on active calls.)

SIGN-UP

We have 50 spots available for the Refresher on 9/27, and as of 9/6/18, about half of them are already filled. So if you’re interested, sign up soon.

For the City-Wide Exercise on 10/20, if you are part of a Neighborhood CERT, contact your leader for specific plans, and if you’re not in a neighborhood CERT, you can join one of the participating CERT neighborhoods.  We’ll advise which neighborhoods are participating after 10/9.

Finally, we have made an effort to connect more people with their neighborhood CERTs and you may see you have been linked with a neighborhood in the heading.

If you have already signed up for the CERT Refresher, you don’t need to do that again, but do add your reservation for the City-Wide Exercise on 10/20.
