Emergency Communication. We're calling it "Ham-101 JumpStart."
Post date: Sep 16, 2018 7:13:13 AM
While it's aimed at newly licensed hams, it can also teach/refresh CERT folks on the proper way to use their FRS radios, and maybe encourage a few to become hams too.
The class will help new hams looking for a quick understanding of ham radio operations and Emergency Communications in our area get started. This is a JumpStart class to help fill some of the voids before the newly licensed ham can take the County's Introduction to Emergency communication and Fundamentals of Emergency Communication classes. This class does not replace either of those County classes but lays some basic foundation so the ham can participate in local city nets and drills before those classes are offered. This class will provide quick overviews of how ham radio is used in emergency communications.
