Join your Wagon Wheel neighbors in the Mountain View City wide CERT drill - Saturday November 16th
Post date: Nov 15, 2019 7:28:27 PM
Mountain View Emergency Operations Center will be conducting a city wide drill on Saturday November 16th from 1-4 pm. Wagon Wheel CERT will be participating. We invite all neighbors, CERT trained or not, to join in for this drill. Meet at the CERT Shed at the cul de sac on Athena Court at 1:00 pm. This scenario is a simulated response to a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) High Wind Our CERT task is for our neighborhood to check power lines for damage. The size-up survey would be conducted with teams of two people assigned to specific street segments. Power has been turned off either becauseof a PSPS by PG&E or because high winds have downed power lines. The is a realistic scenario. The Maria fire on November 1st started shortly after SoCal Edison restored power. Apparently, something was down and they failed to catch it. Bring the following (if you have them): FRS/GMRS handheld radio (we have some to loan out) CERT Vest and helmet (we have some to loan out) Good Walking shoes Water bottle So far, Wagon Wheel Neighborhood has been spared any power outages, but how long can our luck hold out?
